Sara Goldsmith Schwartz will be presenting the Annual Labor and Employment Law Update Overview of Important Legal Decisions and Legislative Changes.
This presentation will survey the prior year’s most critical court decisions and legislative changes in labor, employment and immigration laws. The past year has included a dramatic number of significant changes, including: criminal background check updates, credit check restrictions, new data security regulations, use of personal devices and “bring your own device” policies in the workplace, expansion of rights and benefits in same-sex relationships, dramatic expansion of right to carry firearms in the workplace, increase in potential liability for wage and hour violations, amendments to FLSA regulations on tip-pooling and tip credits, social media updates, ADA compliance, increased litigation under the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination (“GINA”) Act, expansion of protected classes, dramatic increase in exposure for misclassification of employees (including independent contractors), labor union updates and immigration updates, including E-Verify.
